A busy year has past us

Crazy shit went down. Big politics with the Arab Spring and a series of deaths of prominent people.

People will remember the common ones. Osama, Saddam, Kim Jong, Ghadaffi. Then there was Steve Jobs. That was a load of over hype. Sure he did good things not bad but really he was just a man and Apple is nobodies friend.

So this gets me here: We Had a competition in December and received a few good entries. This one stood out. This man past away only this month. Unfortunate but expected. But fuck he went well. He wrote about his impending death, and pulled it apart to create some amazing stories and articles.

Christopher Hitchens was a man to be reckoned with and the world is better place because of his existence. Apple and Jobs pale in comparison to the insight and beliefs of this one man – His never-ending quest to rid the world of irrationality. He encouraged the world to UNDENK. to look closer, be sceptical and question everything.

With that I say Congratulations to the winner of January’s desktop design. Who’s name wanted to be kept secret for reason I dont understand. They created a desktop that if you look closer reveals a little bit more.

The year is almost over…

Where did it go?  It’s been a exciting month with a  series of Undenk coasters coming your way. A recent exhibition in Sydney and lots and lots of work getting in the way of it all.

2012 is not far off and I was going to throw the design of the January desktop open to the public. Lets call it a COMPETITION!

If anyone enters (I dont have much faith in this bit) Send your design to russell at undenk.com – Jpg please. And I may ask for the raw files for the resizes afterwards. If more than one person enters we have an official competition and Undenk will judge whose is best and send the winner out a sticker prize pack.

July’s desktop wallpaper is ready for downloading

The past month has been quite constructive. The imminent AGM in Barcelona will set a tone, take a snapshot, and push the idea of what undenk is trying to achieve in the next 12 months and beyond. All very corporatey and not at all hipster.

One of the real influences of this month was the idea of being constructive. Too many times do people post work or ideas online and the comment fields are set ablaze with negativity. SCREW THAT I say. Get back to some positivity, some ‘all in it together’ communist ideals. mmmmm.

At the very least, we should all realise that our thoughts and comments online are really just drivel and guff, so there’s no harm in saying something more constructive.

Being a skeptic is a rather lonely art. People often confuse you for a cynic.

 

Part three in the ‘calendar of influence’ is June. May has brought with it a tirade of work to distract me and from that I derived the desktop background of the month. It was a little bit optimistic, a little bit preachy, maybe even a little bit hard to understand, And then I had to trash it and do it all again for fear of the civil unrest it could cause. More details on that at a later date. But all parts of the new design have played a huge roll in the success of May. Undenk has had a quiet May on the whole with no new updates but everyone is working feverishly in the background planning the 2011 AGM in France and a plethora of other schtuff.
