It's a beautiful thing, the Destruction of words. After all, what justification is there for a word, which is simply the opposite of some other word? A word contains its opposite in itself. Take 'good' for instance. If you have a word like 'good' what need is there for a word like 'bad'? 'Ungood' will do just as well – better, because it's an exact opposite, which the other is not.

Undenk are pre digital. We began in East Berlin in 1984 and inspired by Orwell’s book, written in 1949. Undenk is the German translation of the Newspeak term “crimethink”. Or, more literally, is the opposite of the German word ‘denk’ – think, believe, feel.

We’re artist, designers and writers. Our origins are in street art, but we explore all mediums. Our intent is to explore and reflect the complicated and hidden world around us.

Through art, writing and design, we like to challenge your deeply held beliefs. And offer a moment of possible thoughtchange.

We have no agenda. We make decisions based on the facts. And, we’re happy to be proved wrong.

Undenk is not about silly childish conspiracy theories. It’s not a revolution. It is the pursuit, manipulation and joy of truth. We approach with rational skepticism and marvel at the beauty of reality.

Blank Walls = Blank Minds

Over 30 years later we’re still active online and offline. Occasionally, we join and stage public and official exhibitions. Here we focus more on indoor art forms. This includes traditional cotton canvases, painted skateboards and recycled materials such as plain cardboard.

Both approaches have the use of stencil-techniques in common.

We explore political and social topics. This includes religion, globalization, militarism and the evolution of capitalism. We also enjoy engaging with the hypocrisy, cynicism and corruption of the 21st century Western Industrial Society.
